Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicidal cleaners feature a unique stabilized sodium hydrochloride and detergent solution that kills pathogens fast. It has a one-minute contact time for a broad range of microorganisms including MDROs such as Acinteobacter barman, Enterobacter erogenous, VRE and MRSA and a five-minute contact time for C. difficile spores.
Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicidal Cleaners come premixed and are ready to use. They are formulated to be similar to the 1:10 bleach solution strength recommended by CDC guidelines for effective disinfecting. It also contains an anticorrosive ingredient that makes them less damaging to surfaces or equipment than conventionally prepared bleach solutions.
Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicidal Cleaner is a one step cleaner and disinfectant. They are excellent cleaners for use on different hard, nonporous surfaces such as stainless steel, glazed ceramic tile, hard plastics, nonporous vinyl, painted surfaces, Plexiglas, laminated plastic countertops, fiberglass (sealed) surfaces, glazed porcelain and glass. For best results apply the cleaning solution directly to the surface until it is completely wet for the contact time indicated on the label.
Clorox Healthcare disinfecting products may also be used for disinfecting pre-cleaned, noncritical instruments.
OSHA has approved the use of bleach solutions as an effective means of protecting healthcare workers from the risk of bloodborne pathogens (source: OSHA Instruction CPL 02-02-069, November 27, 2001).
Gross contamination, or visible soil, must be cleaned up first with soap and water, then followed by use of the bleach cleaning solution for disinfecting.
OSHA requires that conventionally prepared bleach solutions be made up daily (every 24 hours) and left on the surfacce until the bleach has air-dried. Gross contamination (visible soil) must be cleaned up first with soap and water, followed by the use of bleach solution for disinfecting.
Unlike Bleach and water solutions, Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicical Cleaner contains a detergent so is cleans and disinfects in one step. Additionally, because it is premixed, ready-to-use and stable, it eliminates the labor costs associated with mixing and labeling bleach solutions.
