Aquacel Ag Extra Inonic Silver Hydofiber Wound Dressing is
composed of two layers of Hydrofiber Technology stiched together. It is nine
time stronger and has 50% greater absorbency as compared to the original
Aquacel Ag Wound Dressing. The additon of ionic silver in Aquacel Ag Extra
provides rapid, effective, sustained antimicrobial activity. The reservoir of
silver ions in the dressing provide on-demand activity, enough to start killing
clinically relevant levels of bacteria within 30 minutes and continue up to
seven days in vitro.
Aquacel Ag Extra Hydrofiber dressing is specifically suited
to help manage moderate to highly exuding wounds and is cleared for the same
indications as Aquacel Ag dressing.
Hydrofiber Technology locks in exudate and traps bacteria,
micro-contours to the wound bed, and responds to wound conditions.
Aquacel Ag Extra wound dressing is constructed with
two-dimensional strengthening fibers into the dressing. While made from the
same base material that is used to manufacture Hydrofiber Technology, the
fibers do no gel on contact with fluid so they maintain their integrity and
become encompassed by the gel, providing additional strength and aiding the
easy removal.
Kills a broad spectrum if antibiotic-resistant bacteria
(superbugs) including MRSA (NCTC 10442), MRSA (NCTC 12232), MRSA (clinical
isolate, x 8 strains), VRE (NCTC 12201), VRE (clinical isoloate, x2 strains),
Serratia marcescens (clinical isolate) and Psuedomonas aeruginosa (NCTC 8506).
